Wild life of Bangladesh


Bangladesh is called the home of royal Bengal tigers. This is the home of several mammals e.g. Bengal tiger, asian elephant, hoolock gibbon and asian black bear. In Bangladesh salt water crocodile found in the Sundarban. The king cobra also found in Bangladesh. It is estimated that the country has 53 species of amphibian, 19 species of marine reptiles, 380 species of birds, 116 species of mammals, and 5 species of marine mammals.  There is a large number of animals which is disappearing in Bangladesh e.g.   one- and two-horned rhinoceros, the gaur, the banteng, swamp deer, nilgai, Indian wolf, wild water buffalo, marsh crocodile and common peafowl.

Bangladesh has a world laegest  mangrove forest Sundarbans. It is in situated in Southwestern part of Bangladesh.
